Gearheads are in for a treat at this year’s Indy 500. Oscar Mayer has announced that all six of its iconic Wienermobiles will be hitting the track in a head-to-head race, marking what the brand is playfully calling their first-ever “meat up,” according to MotorTrend.

The event coincides with the annual hot dog-fueled festivities, where fans are expected to consume an estimated 30,000 dogs over race weekend—something Oscar Mayer proudly highlights as part of the celebration.

In preparation for the big race, scheduled for Friday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern as part of the Indy 500 pre-show, each of the six “frankwheelers” has been decked out in a custom paint scheme inspired by regional hot dog styles.

Representing different corners of the country, the lineup includes the New York Dog (East), Slaw Dog (Southeast), Chili Dog (South), Chi Dog (Midwest), Sonoran Dog (Southwest), and Seattle Dog (Northwest), MotorTrend said.

Each Wienermobile is built on an Isuzu NPR truck chassis and powered by a 6.0-liter gas-powered V8 from General Motors, delivering 330 horsepower.

While that’s not exactly quarter-mile dragster territory, the real thrill comes from the spectacle: six evenly matched, 27-foot-long rolling hot dogs going all out.

It’s less about speed and more about the spectacle, with plenty of flair (and ketchup) in the air.

So as the engines rev and the mustard-fueled mayhem begins, one thing is clear: this isn’t just a race—it’s a full-blown frankfurter frenzy. Whether you’re cheering for the bold and beefy Chi Dog, the spicy Sonoran underdog, or the classically dressed New York contender, there’s no denying that history is about to be grilled into the asphalt.

It’s the ultimate dogfight—no buns about it.

And while these 27-foot meat missiles may not break any land speed records, they’re guaranteed to ketchup to our hearts. After all, when six giant hot dogs go wheel-to-wheel in a battle of buns, toppings, and torque, everyone wins—especially the fans, who’ll be relishing every moment.

So grab your foam fingers, fire up the grill, and get ready to witness the most un-be-lievable race of the year. Because when the Wienermobiles line up at the starting line, you better believe they’re bringing the heat, the meat, and one frankly unforgettable treat.
