A Florida man crashed his vehicle into a car dealership after failing a credit check to test drive a BMW M4, according to the police.
The BMW M4 is valued at $110,000, according to ABC News.
This incident caused about $50,000 in damage to BMW of Gainesville and $5,000 to the 2025 M4 CS coupe he wanted, according to the Alachua Chronicle.
Kevin Leiman, 20, was further charged with attempted grand theft of a vehicle and property damage for over $1,000, Automotive News said.
Leiman allegedly became upset with dealership employees after his credit application was denied and attempted to take a car key from a desk drawer. A staff member informed him that the key belonged to a different vehicle and instructed him to return it and leave, according to Automotive News.
Police said he sat outside in his vehicle for hours until an employee drove the M4 he was looking at in the showroom, only minutes later he circled the parking lot twice and drove through the building’s windows, Automotive News said.
After getting out of his car, Leiman began searching through desks for keys and punched an employee in the face.
Leiman was booked into the Alachua County Jail on Tuesday at 4:44 p.m., following a medical checkup, ABC News said.
Court documents, according to Automotive News, say Leiman is unemployed and must attend substance abuse and mental health treatment following being released on his own recognizance.
