CarMax stated that the incident occurred after the customer had his vehicle appraised. According to police, after driving through the dealership, the customer turned himself in at a local police academy, where he was arrested. His identity has not been released, according to Automotive News.

Out of the eight people who were injured, two were brought to trauma centers with critical injuries, according to the Los Angeles Times. Two employees were struck and cared for at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, CarMax said.

The store in Inglewood is currently closed, Automotive News said.

“We have a plan of action in place that we are implementing to ensure support for our employees and customers,” CarMax said. “The safety of our employees, community and customers is our top priority. We are deeply saddened by this event and our hearts go out to everyone impacted.”
